TRANSCRIPT

Well, hello friends. It's Remi here from MemberVault. I am the user success Lead here at MemberVault.
And this is another solo episode for me. And today I'm talking about whether or not you are making the most out of your welcome emails. Are you you making the most out of your welcome emails?

Well, I'm gonna give you 10 really simple and easy things to include in a welcome email today, because welcome emails are actually really, really important. After somebody buys something from you or signs up from you. Often we kind of send them login details and leave it at that.

But actually, we can really be amping up our welcome emails and utilizing them, particularly if this is the first time somebody is going to hear from you, then why not load up that email with some really cool things that will feel really supportive to them. But he's also supportive to your business, and helps to them to get started to nailing whatever it is they came to buy from you.

So I want to let you know that I'm going to be doing a walkthrough workshop of this as well, there's going to be a video training on screen workshop where we go through this step by step.
And it will be available inside of our courses.vipmembervault.com  And it will be inside the make your MV shine product. And we will share in the collaborative and probably by email as well, when that goes live, and on the blog.

So click the link in the show notes. If you want to access the blog, I will be dropping the link to one of our swipe welcome emails that you can literally copy and use to create your own swipe email.

So remember, MemberVault doesn't send out emails for you, you have to connect your email and integrate it into the MemberVault platform. And there is a ton of documentation on how to do that really easily. So I will share those links as well

So this is assuming you have integrated your email provider into MemberVault.
And this is going to be all around sending that first welcome email.
And so click on the link again, at the blog link in the show notes and there'll be some links, there will be a link to how you actually trigger a welcome email.

And then I'll also include the swipe file, email, swipe, welcome email in there for you.

Alright, so let's jump into the first thing that you need to do with your your welcome emails.

1. The first thing is to make sure you keep your subject line as simple as possible. And top tip is to make sure you include the name of the product that the person has bought in their subject line, right, because I don't know, if you're like me, I bought tons of courses and programs are signed up to things. And they just get lost in the inbox, right, they get lost in the inbox. But if you put the name of the course, then it's you know, I'm somebody who will just go and search for like one key word or one thing from that course. So if that name of the product, your product is in the subject line, then somebody can find that easy, and it doesn't get lost as easily, right. So tip number one is make sure you keep your subject line really simple, like Welcome to and then you know insert the name of your course, I would keep it as simple as that, so that they can find your email easily.

2. Number two is actually inside of your email. Make sure you include the product name, again, somewhere inside of the email, right because, again, for certain for being able to search your inbox to find it. Sometimes people will open up an email, but they're not really sure what it is. So put the product name again into the actual email somewhere, you know, remind them of that purchase that they made and include your product name inside the body of your email as well your welcome email.

3. The third tip for you is to make sure you use the personalization tags in your email provider. So they will often allow you to insert things like somebody's first name or their email address or other other personalization tags that you can use. But when we open a welcome email, we really want to greet that person with their first name. And there is nothing more I think attention grabbing than when you're reading an email and you get like two or three paragraphs down and then somebody mentions your name. It really kind of forces you to focus on what it is they're talking about. You're like, oh, oh, they're talking to me, right? It kind of pulls you back into the email. So if you have got the ability, like most email service providers do have, then do use the personalization tags. And if you don't know how to use them, then do you know a quick search Do a Google search for your email service provider. So that might be you know, mailer light, or MailChimp or Active Campaign, and the word personalization tag and you know, read the results of that. So you can figure out how you can add those personalization tags into your email. Most email service providers will have step by step guides for you of how you can add those in

4. number four, now, inside the email, the welcome email, what would be great tip and a good idea for you to do is to list out the desired outcome for the buyer right or for the user. So that they remember why they purchased this thing in the first place. Right? What Why did they sign up for this, if you list that in the welcome email, that'd be a great reminder for them about why they signed up for this and what they intended to do, and is a good driver for them to log back in, and come and check out your product, right. So include the desired outcome into the welcome email around why they purchased and signed up.

5. The next tip for you is to include in the welcome email about how the product will actually support them, right in achieving that desired outcome that we just talked about. So you know, this might be saying, you know, that there are, you know, there's many trainings inside the product, like five minute trainings, or video trainings, or there's a private podcast in there, or there's a workbook in there that will walk you through the steps that will get you to, you know, insert your desired outcome, right. So remind them how this will support them to get them excited about wanting to log back in to the portal to come and get the thing that they signed up for.

6. All right, the next one is where are we we are on number six.
This is all about adding some direct links now into the welcome email, right. And when you create a product with member vault, you get three depending on which way you doing this, whether you're doing a payments or a form, right. But if if somebody is buying a product from you, you would get three links as an option for you. Right, the first link is the product link. The second link is the direct purchase link. And the third link is the one click link. So these are three different links that you can share out. Now it's a very good idea inside of your welcome email to include direct links to your your user or your buyer, so that they can click on the link and get straight into your product. Now the first link is your product link in so if you were looking at your dashboard, and you looked at your product, and you went to the far right hand side, there's a gear icon, and you clicked on there, that's where you would find the three links that I'm talking about here that you can share, you know, in an email or on social media or wherever you want to share them.

And what you'd probably want to do at this point, because it's a welcome email, so somebody has signed up for something they've either paid money, or they've signed up for a free resource area, I would suggest that the best link to using a welcome email is going to be the third link, which is the one click link. And the reason this is good is because when somebody clicks on this link from their email, which is the same email that they've registered with our MemberVault, it means that they can automatically be sent into your product without having to put their username and password in, it will just automatically give them access to that product, right. So include a direct link into your email for sure. Now, you know, we can get even a bit more smart with this actually, is that when you are thinking about the link that you can share, you can share a link from the product level the you know the top level, you can share a link from a module level. So maybe you want to take somebody to a new module, right? So you could do that. Or if you want to take somebody to a specific link or a specific lesson, then you can share a link for that as well. So each of those levels, the product level, the module level level, and the lesson level, all have product links that you can share, and one click links that you can share from all of those levels. So think about what is going to be the best direct link that you want to share and grab that link by clicking on the gear icon and inserting that into your welcome email.

7. So the next one on my list is number seven.
I think I think I've bumbled up my numbers here but that's okay. I will push through... the actual link, I'm going to suggest that you put into your welcome email is either a Start Here, link, or a do this first link, right. So, in a lot of my programs and courses that I've created, I have a module, the first module is called like, start here. And in that module, there's normally like a welcome message, or there's some admin or some zoom links or whatever, right? But what I suggest you do for your welcome email, is put a one click link, right, so an automated link that leads that person to a Start Here lesson, or a do this first lesson. So again, you would go into the product, you'd go into the module, and then you would go into the lesson area. And then you would go to the very right hand side of the lesson that you want to take them to in your start here.

You'll start here lesson, and there'll be gear icon on the lesson level. And you want to click on that. And you want to grab the one click link from the lesson level. And when you put that into your welcome email, and your user opens their welcome email, and they click on that direct link, they click on that direct link, that will take them to the Start Here. Lesson, when they click on that it takes them straight in, right, they don't have to think about what's my username, where's my password, it would take them straight to the page, where you've got your welcome video, or anything else that you've got there that you need them to see first. That is the link, I would be including in the email. And I do that with all of my welcome emails is I send them right to the level to the video that I want them to see first, right, they don't have to be confused logging in clicking on modules, clicking on lessons trying to find anything, I'm just going to serve them and make their life easy by taking them right to a welcome video that introduces myself to them, introduces the platform tells them how to use things where to find things, you know, gives them some screenshots really gives them a nice introduction, so that they don't feel lost and confused. Because when people feel lost and confused, they will just leave and they won't really come back and try to figure it out because it feels confusing. So if you can take them to a place where you make it easy for them, then do include that link into the welcome email.

8. All right, the next tip is inside of your welcome email, put some verbiage in there, awesome words, that tells the user to save this email, save this emails for that record or for their login information. And again, you can use the personalization tags here too. So let's say for example, a lot of my welcome emails was will give them a direct link. But it will also give them a login reminder. So it will say here's your username, and here's your password. And then using the personalization tag, I just put their email address, I just put the email personalization tag, not their address, because the the automation will do that for you. So I put the email, personalization tag after their username and then after their password, and that will automatically pull in their their emails for them. So they now know what their login details are inside the email. And that's easily done when you use the personalization tags. If that sounds confusing, don't worry, I'm literally going to include for you a swipe email with this all mapped out (BELOW). So you will see the personalization tags.  I'm looking at the email right now. So for example, there's a section where it says here's your login. And it gives them the login web address that's in the direct link to the MemberVault. And then it says username. It's got the personalization tag and it says password. And it's got the personalization tag. So when you go look at this swipe email, this will make a lot more sense if this isn't making sense on the podcast for you.

9. The next thing that I would share in the welcome email is I'd put again a little bit of verbiage in this welcome email that kind of asks us very politely and kind of nudges very politely your user or your buyer to share your product for you. Right. And you're asking them, Hey, could you share this with some other people that you know, right? Or if you want to share this, this and then insert the name of your product, you know, with your people, with your team with your friends, or if someone you know, who has been wanting to, you know, insert whatever the thing is they want to learn how to bake vegan cookies in seven days or they want to do Learn how to grow vegetables in their garden, right? whatever your thing is insert that in. So if you know somebody who wants to learn how to make vegan cookies, right, then please share this link. And then I would pop in a link from MemberVault to your main product. So this would be the product level. And it would be the first link I would share here, which would be the product link. So it's insert in a little bit of copy that's really asking them to share the word about the fact that they bought this thing. And they're sharing it because they think other people might like it, or could use it as well. So you know, this is really about driving people into your business. And you're asking the people who've either purchased from you, or signed up for a free thing from you, you're asking them to support you by sharing your business further. And you can do this by inserting a product link from your member vote account.

10. And then finally, my final tip for you today is if you are sending out a welcome email for let's say, a free product, right?
So let's say you have a free resource area, or you have a free video series that you're giving away, or a free podcast series that you're giving away, or whatever your lovely free thing is. And you want to send out a welcome email to somebody who signed up for one of your free things. How about including in that welcome, email, a link to one of your paid offers inside a member vault as well, right. So they've signed up for this free thing, they've got their free access, which is brilliant. But there's absolutely no harm in including in an email to say, Hey, I sell this thing as well. And I do this all the time, I recently have created a free lead magnet inside a member vault. And actually, that's going to be a walkthrough video that I'll be releasing soon as well how to build your lead magnets in member vault, right.

So I've got this free lead magnet. And inside that free lead magnet, when somebody signs up for it using MemberVault, I there's automatically triggers an email in my email service provider, which is mailer light, and that welcome, email will send out again, in a lot of the stuff that we've talked about in this episode, you know, it will send out their login details, and you know, how they log in with their username and password. And it will send out direct links of how they log in all of that good stuff. But it also includes a link to my seven pound Tech Club, right? So they're getting this amazing thing for three for free anyway. But this is my opportunity to say, hey, you know, I know that you're interested in business, because you have downloaded this business playbook. Would you be interested in joining my club, which has business strategy training and tech training. And so what I'm doing is I'm offering them something that I know that they're going to be interested in, it's not completely random to the thing that they signed up for free. And you can do exactly the same thing. If you're giving away something for free, then why not, you know, share with them a paid offer that you have inside of MemberVault that actually would be of interest to them that would support them. It's a similar topic that they're interested in, and it could give them more support.

Right. So again, we're thinking about how can we support our people here, and you know, put in the information to welcome email, so they know what's available is also a great idea. So as I've said, at the start of this email, I'm going to include a swipe, email, and it's actually I'm gonna put this straight on the blog, right, so you can just go copy this email, which includes all the things I've talked about in this episode, which are things like the subject line. So this is like, it's like a template, really, it's a welcome email template, it's got the subject line, it's got the first line that uses personalization. So you can see how you can use personalization tags. And remember, it'll be different for each email service providers to make sure you know what your personalization tags off in your email service provider, because the one that I'm going to share with you may not be the same format. And then it there's copy in this email that you know, there's some links in there that you can use a one click links that I talked about. And there's your login details and your username and some more personalization. And then there's that little call to action that I mentioned, where we're asking them to share your product forever right to share it with their people, and the type of link that you can put in there.

So I'm gonna pop this onto the blog, which again, the link is in the show notes. So go ahead and click on that and go and get access to this and the transcript of this podcast. Let's go and amp up your welcome emails, right. Let's not be... let's not do bog standard boring welcome emails. Let's soup up our welcome emails and make them really work for our business, right?

We're gonna give them all the information they need, we're going to support them with useful links, so they don't have to worry and feel stressed... But also, let's amp it up so that, you know, we can get referrals, we can get people sharing your links on social media or in their circles or in their networks, that ultimately is driving more business back into your business, and you know, helping you to grow your business on MemberVault.

So I hope you have got a lot out of today. And I'll be back next week with some more episodes and strategy episodes and user spotlight episodes and I look forward to talking to you then take care
