3 Ways to Uplevel Your MV Products, Using Google

03/15/2024

My name is Adrienne Farrow and two things to know about me are that I am obsessed with Google and coffee.

I have a sign posted in my office that I got at a Google event in Sunnyvale, CA (the headquarters of Google!) that says “Powered by caffeine and Google” and this rings true for me everyday.

My mission is to help entrepreneurs unlock the potential of Google tools both to increase their productivity and create profitable digital products. As a former classroom teacher, education technology specialist and Google for Education Certified trainer, I have extensive knowledge of those little hacks that can save you so much time in Google and I love sharing them!

And I’m going to share 3 of those hacks with you that you can immediately start using in MV to help improve your learner’s experience and save you time!

1️⃣ Embedding a Google Form into MV. This both saves your learners a click but also encourages them to fill out your form because it’s right there directly in MV.

Google Forms have many amazing uses in courses…

⭐️ They can be great ways to gather feedback

⭐️ They can be used for accountability in a coaching program (a weekly check in)

⭐️ They can be used as an application for 1:1 services

And SO much more

The standard way of adding a Google Form is to add a hyperlink to the form.

This totally works. BUT it is also easy for a learner to overlook the hyperlink or choose not to click on it.

But what if you could EMBED the Google Form into your MV course?

Well, I’m here to tell you YOU CAN

Here’s how you can do this:

In Google Forms:

🟣 Go to the big “SEND” button at the top of your Google Form

🟣 Click on the embed symbol that looks like this <>

🟣 Click “COPY” to copy the HTML code

🟣 Optional: adjust the width and height of the form before copying

In MemberVault:

🟣 In the toolbar of the Lesson Text click on the source code symbol that looks like this <>

🟣 Paste in the HTML code from Google Forms

You’re done!

Now your learners can fill out your Google Form directly from within MemberVault

2️⃣ One of my all time favorite hacks- creating forced copies of Google Docs, Slides, or Sheets for your learner to have their own copy of it. You may be familiar with creating forced copies but I’ll also be talking about template/preview links… and why those are a game changer.

Do you ever give your learners a Google Doc (or maybe a Slides deck or a Sheet) and want them to have a copy of them?

Many people give an “anyone with the link can view” link and ask their learner to make a copy.Instead, you can give them a forced copy or a template/preview link!

Here is how it works:Grab the “anyone with the link can view” link from the blue “Share” button in the top right

Here is an example of a link: https://docs.google.com/.../1FPbdcLdRPk0czB.../edit...

Delete through the word “edit” (so the “edit?usp=sharing” piece) and replace it either with

The word copy

or

The words template/preview

Then hyperlink text inside MemberVault to link to this document.

Then your learners will have a copy of your Google Doc!I prefer the template/preview link as it cuts down on user access requests.

I HIGHLY recommend checking out the video for today’s tip as it’s so much easier to see in practice.

3️⃣ How to set up a Google Calendar for your learners and the two ways to share it with them.

Do you have live calls with your learners?

Then I highly recommend adding a Google Calendar to your MemberVault

This can be done in one of two ways.First- make sure you have your own calendar for your course. Go to the left hand side of your Google Calendar and click the + by “Other calendars.” Then create a calendar just for your course.

Now, let’s go over the two ways to add the Google Calendar to your MemberVault.

1. Embed the calendar directly into MemberVaultTo do this, click the three dots next to the name of your calendar and then go to “Settings and sharing”

Scroll down to the “Integrate Calendar” section.

Click “Customize” under the embed code.

Go through and customize how you want your calendar to look. I highly recommend watching the tutorial video I created to see how to customize the calendar. https://youtu.be/bd7AXOmgBqk

Then click the copy button next to the embed code.

Paste into your MemberVault by clicking on the <> button in the toolbar (source code) and inserting the code from Google Calendar.

Boom! You have a Google Calendar embedded in your MemberVault!

If a learner wants to add the calendar to their own Google Calendar, they can click the + sign in the lower right corner.

Also, an embedded Google Calendar is dynamic- meaning as you add to the calendar, it will update in real time. No need to go back and change the code after you embed it!

2. Provide the link to the public calendar

To do this, click the three dots next to the name of your calendar and then go to “Settings and sharing”

Scroll down to the “Access permissions for events” section.

Ensure “Make available to public” is checked and the permissions are “See all event details.”

Click on “Get sharable link.”

Copy link and paste into MemberVault.

This will share your calendar with another person and prompt them to add it to their own Google Calendar.
