Remi Oduyemi
Hello, everybody, welcome to another user spotlight. My name is Remi, I'm the user success Lead here at MemberVault. And I am very lucky. Every single week I get to meet with and interview our wonderful MemberVault members, longtime users who been here at MemberVault, who are doing incredible things in their accounts, and I get to interview them, and we get to go behind the scenes, and learn a bit more.  And the idea with these is that you take some inspiration and some ideas away that you could perhaps implement into your very own business. So today, I am joined by Auntee Rik, Hi, Auntee Rick, how are you? Hey Auntie Rick or Rikki, as I'm gonna call her from now on is a business operations as a systems specialist. So tell us Ricky, how long have you been using MemberVault?

Auntee Rik
So I want to say since the end of 2018, it was relatively new on the scene, and my first account I grabbed when I was doing web design. So maybe around the end of 2018.

Remi Oduyemi
Okay. And who do you mostly work with in your business?

Auntee Rik
I work with service providers who do Done For You services for other service providers, slash coaches, consultants, instructors. So web designers, copywriters, social media managers, brand designers, along those lines.

Remi Oduyemi
Okay, and how are you Mostly working with those type of people inside of MemberVault? Is it one to one? Is it small group coaching? How are you preferring to work with people? Or is it a bit of everything?

Auntee Rik
It's a it's a mix of everything. I did some experimentation with services and stuff like that over the last 18 months or so. Excuse me, and I have the most joy and the better effect when I'm working with someone one to one or a small group. But in a not in a long term capacity. So it's very much getting get out. The joke is I'm a one hitter quitter. Okay, so let me help you get up and roll along the way. And the fun part of that. I don't know if you've heard of human design? Yeah, I have. Yeah, yeah. So my human design profile. Actually, I can't remember the name of that section. But I'm a five one, which basically means that reason, season lifetime. So when I come into contact with people, you know, if we're only supposed to be around each other, as long as the purpose is being served to people longer than that point, is kind of productive. Yeah. Now, I wish I had known that as a teenager because it will save me a lot of headaches. It's like, yes, so long term coaching is not really for me. I'm a Help me. Yeah, I need a fix. Then we get in, we get a fix. We get out. And if you need again, later, yeah, come on back.

Remi Oduyemi
Rikki, this is really resonating with me, because I think I'm very similar to you. And as you're talking, I'm now thinking about all these kinds of friendships and relationships I've had along the way and, and clients that I've had, and actually how I prefer to work and it isn't in that long term capacity, it's more of the, you know, get people in help them give them the answers and let them crack on rather than, you know, so yeah, that really resonates with me, what you're talking about there really was

Auntee Rik
when I got my profile, and I started reading up and looking at different stuff, I was like it was like, I start because I also used to hold on to I'll try to hold on to relationships, business, personal friendships, whatever. And kind of was feeling like my feelings would be hurt at the end of certain situations. But also knowing that it was time Yes. But had I known that early I wouldn't beat myself up as much. Yeah, now it's like yes, I'm supposed to be here. Yeah, this to our VIP session and the afterwards is deuces.

Remi Oduyemi
I'll see you later. Yes. Hopefully that makes, and I think that will resonate with a lot of people. Actually, I think a lot of people will. Okay. Yeah, absolutely.

Auntee Rik
And if you haven't had your human design profile done, I've just found it very, extremely insightful. And I don't know the site to plug it, I keep losing my earrings today

Remi Oduyemi
big earring problems, I have the same problems in my earrings. So I feel you, so talk to me, Rikki about what tech tools are you using alongside MemberVault to support your work with your clients and to kind of give a good customer experience?

Auntee Rik
Okay, so first off integrated with member vault, of course, I have stripe and PayPal. Also, you am a mailer light user. Since they changed i mailer light, classic. And that's how I integrate, I use the actions to kick off emails. And at some point, I'll have automations that will follow up with my hot and warm leads. I haven't gotten into it yet. Because up until November of 2021, I wasn't really committed to any service offerings. So I didn't put a lot of time into those actions to automations. But those are the two main ones I use. I currently have a dubsado or HoneyBook quiz that uses interact trying to correct quizzes. And so it's a free product in my vault, you take the quiz, and at the end of the quiz to get a results, you enter your email address, and you'll get an email from me based on your results. Now, if your results come up as dubsado, then there's a trigger between interact and Zapier, that will then send or add that person to a product that I have that's still private right now. I'm called dubsado. Prep. And the decide, oh, prep actually takes you through different tools you'll need to use with dubsado before you get set up, because I think sometimes people get caught off guard that you can definitely just jump into the saddle and plug and play and go about your business. But to optimize your account, you want to get your email connected, your domain connected. So it's different things like that to help you optimize your account before you even sign up. And so if your result comes up with a title, then you get added to my vault that way. I do use what else do I use? With MemberVault? There have been so many things, though, couple of years, because I actually started my anti brick wall, which I called the wall with a physical product. And that was

Remi Oduyemi
what was your physical product.

Auntee Rik
I have a business operations planner for printers. It's it's not a it's not a date based day daily agenda planner. It is actually systems to set up your business operations in totality. Yeah. Starting with yourself. Yeah. And systems for yourself, your personal self to be your best business self. Because your how you take care of yourself is the foundation for how you take care of your business and your clients.

Auntee Rik
I decided to go with member vault for that in the beginning, because I was doing presale. And then in the midst of it, I said, Oh wait, I need I need some instructions to go along with this. So the second iteration of that planner, they get the physical book. There was a PDF for like a guidebook, but what I found was that people were just getting the planner and jumping in they didn't read any of the emails that said, log into the vault, or whatever. Yeah, or somebody would hit me up on Twitter and be like, Hey, how do I do and I'm like, I can go and look at remember vault is see if they've actually logged in. They had not actually logged in ever. I'd be like I just tell them you know it's in the vault. This is how you do this but it does The whole guidebook fee during the fall, so I ended up recording a series of videos based on the guidebook that went along with that. And that evolved into my bootcamp, ah, small group coaching cohort. So, I took the planner and the training videos, but then we did want to I did one to one with the, to the attendees, one call a month for three months. Yeah, um, and so I like offering that. But the next, the next version of, it's called the best organized her. And the next version of that will be a combination of video, they'll still get the guidebook if they are reader. But, um, they'll have that. So in addition to metal, like there's wounds, I use Drive, I use air tables for feedback. So the quiz questions are great, as far as working directly in member vault, but sometimes there's some data I need sometimes. Yeah. And so I will do, I will embed an air table into that. I've also experimented with a directory. So it's an air table directory, and I grabbed the gallery view. And I embedded the gallery view into a page on member vault. And people can just pick categories and see what I have listed. And it's a really great way to mine, um, show off, you know, the products that I detect that I use or whatever, for my affiliate links. Yeah, um, and it was an experiment. So I don't know if it'll be live by the time this recording goes live. But I was like, Yeah, I can do it. And then my son, yeah, and I don't have to spend like $250, you know, for a plugin for my site. Um, yeah. And then I use Dropbox. If I need people to upload anything, and I use, I like Dropbox for that, because they have a feature called file request. And I'm sure my web designers can relate, you have a client upload their assets, and then you go to look at the assets and the assets have gone, like you've been using the Drive folder, right, and then the assets have gone because the client just went in and start poking around and deleted stuff or move stuff will file requests with Dropbox gets rid of that, once it's uploaded, they can't get into that folder to re upload some. Yeah, I'm in. So like, that's my favorite feature ever. With Dropbox. And I know, for the most part, I can just use one folder between all clients, because when they go to upload, they have to enter their name, and it gets date and timestamp. And it's clearly marked. So that's nice. Really nice. Yeah. So I can just like drop a link in there. And then outside of that, there's clickup that I use for my project management. Yeah. Yeah. Out of systems. I'm a Systems person. So my is like, of course, I'm always looking at, you know, what's new? Who's using what, what works for what industry? Because it's, if I want to inform people, like, I have to know what I'm talking about.

Remi Oduyemi
Absolutely. So your Interact quiz that you use, have you just embedded that from interact into MemberVault? Is that what you've done?

Auntee Rik
Yeah, I actually, I believe,

Remi Oduyemi
or is it a layman? Or is it a link from your product to your quiz elsewhere?

Auntee Rik
No, I believe I have it. It's embedded into a page. Perfect, perfect. It's embedded into a page. So when we get like when when the Page Builder gets a little more robust, we'll probably get them a little more robust, but it's actually embedded into a page.

Remi Oduyemi
Beautiful. That's a beautiful little hack for people to think about doing if they are creating quizzes or other tools elsewhere that you can embed that into bed everything Yeah.

Auntee Rik
I have a premium version of my newsletter, so I do a weekly newsletter called The Sunday snatch. Yeah, it's tips and tools and tutorials for business operations for this for the micro business freelancer, solopreneur side hustler. Um, and so I have a premium version, which gives the templates or, like, if I talk about that in an email, then that zap recipe, I can save it as a template and share it and, and the premium subscribers will get back. I have a product that talks about three SOPs that you need to have in your business. And my premium members get that the templates that go with that, and it saves them so much time. Yeah. And so basically, because it gets to be a bit much trying to turn out a bunch of different things, but I like to create like to share stuff that helps people to save time. So the premium sundae snatch premium gives those members a new template every month. And I actually have I have it as two different products. One I call the oldies which are the people who got in early. Yeah. When I was testing it out, so they have one rate, but they seem to love it like that. And then the public one now has, I have that one on your braids. So once I add it to the old days, it seems like a lot of extra work is it's really not. Yeah, but once I add it to the ODS vault, then I just copy the, the module over to the public one. So if you have a signup form for your email list, what by the time is run, because you caught you guys caught me at a moment where I was making like, serious renovations. Changes. Which is the combination of like 18 months of experiment to saying no, I don't ever want to offer this. I mean, I like to do more of this. Yeah. So that product will actually change with the signup form for the Sunday snatch being an embedded form from mailer light as a teaser product. And then the rest of it will be premium. No, so they can sign up right there from the teaser module. Yeah. And then if they decide they can just yeah, I'm upgrade there. But I love that part of it. It's It's cute. It's

Remi Oduyemi
there it goes that earring.

Auntee Rik
Oh, we've lost her. We lost her from the call. Okay.

Remi Oduyemi
Okay, Rikki's back. We have little ... Ricky's back. Welcome back.

Auntee Rik
Gotta love tech. Right. Everything is so official. Time

Remi Oduyemi
two tech people, look at us

Auntee Rik
Hey, it's happened. It happened. Okay.

Remi Oduyemi
Oh, where were we? Where were we?

Auntee Rik
So I think I was just finishing up about embedding your signup and then adding a premium version to the rest of your product, adding the adding the mailing list sign up as a teaser module. And connecting that. Yes, that's a really nice people. I wasn't one to know I was one. It's up to you. How they want to how you would like them to support you. Because you just need to keep in mind that like creating free content isn't free. You know, so that's one thing that I like my clients to keep in mind. Yeah, I want to do this freebie. And I want to do that for me. And I'm like, How much is that coffee? Yeah. Time Yes. To produce that those are billable hours. Absolutely. You know, so creating free products isn't free. And some people are just happy to support

Remi Oduyemi
Yeah, for sure. Absolutely. I just recently created a new product in mind that you just met made me think and it was from I want to say his name is Mike but I can't remember a guy in the group. And he has a product where it's just like a buy me a cup of coffee right? And it's like $5 $10 whatever anybody what just wants to offer and so I've recently created one of those I've called mine buy me a cup because I'm very British and I have I drink coffee. So I have a buy me a cup of product. And, and it's like you say it's a thing where people are coming, right? And they're getting all your freebies and your things and you're spending time creating, why not have something like that where people if they want to, they can just donate or buy you a cup of tea or a cup of coffee as a thing. So, yeah, I totally agree with that. That's a really nice tip that you've just shared about embedding that into a teaser module as well. All right, so before we wrap up today, do you have much feedback? Or do you get much feedback from your customers? And your clients about using MemberVault? How easy they find it? Do they like it? All of that stuff? I mean, to get much feedback, I think my clients

Auntee Rik
are a lot like me, like, just give me what I need. So it's rare, but I haven't had complaints. So that's a good thing in my book. I'm

Remi Oduyemi
being like, simple enough for them to come in, get what they need, and go go about their day, right? It's not Yeah, it's not like too hard or complicated for them.

Auntee Rik
Yeah, it's, it's like, the layout is similar to a lot of other platforms. Um, so they, those who have done online courses and stuff before, we'll do a quick, you know, they don't have to click here and there, but I always find that it helps to give people extra instruction. Those one click links are amazing. Because when I send an email and I say, hey, you know, your vault has been updated when I send out the email to premium subscribers to let them know that this month, this month duty is available. I can give them a one click link to straight to the lesson that that Gibby is in as opposed to have them. Click me click again. Yeah, I'm in. So I really, really liked that part. I'm trying to I remember somebody saying, Oh, my God, that's a member. Well, I can't remember what it was about. That I do remember someone saying that. And I believe they signed up. I remember well, right

Remi Oduyemi
after that amazing.

Auntee Rik
I can't remember what it is. It's so funny, because some days I'm just like, don't tell like me. Don't you don't want to talk to me, but I've come to figure out a good part of my client base is just like

Remi Oduyemi
me. Yeah. People like us. We 100% do. And it is having that understanding that yeah, they're coming in, they're getting their stuff. They're grateful but they don't want to sit and chitchat with you or they just want to get this stuff go about their life and keep it moving. And it's having that understanding, isn't it that these are my people and not to take it personal? Like why?

Auntee Rik
Yeah, it's it's the not taking it personal part. It takes some practice from you like, Wait a minute. Hold on. It's not really about you. I'm like, Okay, fine. My feelings, you know, my baby,

Remi Oduyemi
it's natural. Yeah, you, you care about it. It's your business easy your creation, these are your, your offerings to the world, right? Of course. Of course, it matters. But we have all these new community features that are coming out soon, right. So this is going to be a game changer as well in terms of people being able to come in and engage on your stuff, and you ask questions, and then get their real time feedback as well. So this is another thing that's coming in, which adds another really nice community element to what's already a pretty amazing platform. So

Auntee Rik
I can't wait. Yeah, it was one feature I've asked for in before I put it in the I actually put it in as a feature request. Aaron sent out an email, maybe a week or so ago asking about you know, different things. And if what what she was talking about wasn't what I wanted to talk about was, was this something else? I said, Let me slide it in. It will be a game changer for me. To use that Zapier is another tool you may recall. Yeah, but to be able to send my emails out to my list, and then have it zapped into a lesson a new lesson in member vault.

Remi Oduyemi
That would be cool. That would be

Auntee Rik
a video to put the pressure on my feet because

Remi Oduyemi
that would be super neat.

Auntee Rik
When I was keeping up with my blog, which I haven't done in a very long time on my site, like I can zap it into WordPress as a draft. Yeah. And then turn them on after. But oh my goodness, if that could happen, like the trigger is already set up for mailer light, you know about the other email platforms? Yeah. Um, so that trigger is already there. Because it's, you can use it with WordPress. So if there was a way to magically make it populate a new lesson, I could copy and move it afterwards. Yeah, in there, you know, but just because it would be I know, sometimes, like I have, I also have binge read like a good portion of my friends. I have about a 750 subscribers, a good 50% of those people open every week. Then I got another 13 to 15% of of my subscribers who injury. Yeah. And I tell you, I write novellas. I've tried to short and quick word. Yeah, people don't like every time I say let me try this. I'll add an audio version. video version. They don't want that. And I'm just like, okay, like, Y'all clearly like to read my, I don't know if they read anybody else's long novellas. But I write notes about like emails. And so sometimes, I know some people who wait, and then take a Sunday afternoon, and just read six issues at a time. Oh, wow. How cool would it be? If they could just pull go into the vault? And then there and just binge it like that? You know what I'm saying? So, fingers crossed?

Remi Oduyemi
No, I mean,

Auntee Rik
I know you guys are busy. I'm not gonna pass up. I

Remi Oduyemi
know, well, listen, if you've sent it through to Aaron, they'll go on the feature we haven't it's a genuine feature request list. The list of people's suggestions on. So yeah, that's cool. And if anyone's watching this, and there's also like, for this, you know, send a little Customer Self Service? No, because that will put a little tick next to Ricky's suggestion, and then it's really popular, then it will move higher up the list to get done. But, but it didn't mean as as a as a temporary fix to that. I mean, if you're What are you writing your emails in mailer light, or do you write it like in the Google Docs?

Auntee Rik
I write the in between Google Docs and Evernote. Okay, it depends on what I grabbed at this time.

Remi Oduyemi
But could you not just for now, just copy if you're copying it to me, like just copy it into a lesson?

Auntee Rik
Sometimes, if I think about it, but it wouldn't be.

Remi Oduyemi
And it wouldn't be I guess it wouldn't be well formatted and nice in the way that it would be in the email, right? It's just

Auntee Rik
word. I don't do a whole

Remi Oduyemi
word. No. Fancy loving fencing.

Auntee Rik
Straight to the point function first. It's a function first is how I operate. Make sure it works. Yeah, pretty later. Okay. Yeah, I don't I don't, you know?

Remi Oduyemi
Could you not be posting those onto the MV block feature and turning them into blocks?

Auntee Rik
I want it to be subscriber exclusive. Oh, I

Remi Oduyemi
see. Okay. Fair enough. Yeah. So yeah, I mean, go into port or into a lesson or module or something.

Auntee Rik
Yeah, cuz I don't want it to. I mean, it's not a priority for me right now. But if it was something that could be automated, I definitely do, of course. Um, yeah, we see. We might, we might see some action. When I do some copy pasting. We might see some with that, but you know, we're gonna pretend that that's not an option so that we can

Remi Oduyemi
Rikki's requests and now, we want, we want Zapier to send out emails to the here's the problem, it wouldn't just be mailer light, it would be like ActiveCampaign it'd be like all of them and there's loads of them. And I wonder if that might be anyway, we're getting off on a tangent here down this this interview. But yeah, I do. And I just wonder anyway,

Auntee Rik
that he can handle it. I know. Of course. I mean, it's just, it's really just one incoming. Let me my, my quasi dev brain is thinking. I said, I sent the recipe anyway. Aaron, so she, she was like, Do you have an idea, but I have I have still I have the recipe. So

Remi Oduyemi
you just need to implement it. And it's

Auntee Rik
fine. Yeah. Listen, I know, I know the empty words. were hard. So yeah, absolutely.

Remi Oduyemi
Absolutely.

Auntee Rik
All right, we really be a game changer.

Remi Oduyemi
Thank you for putting in a feature requests because they do matter. And they, they all help to evolve the platform, right? giving people what they want. So it's brilliant that you did that. And you took that initiative to just send send that shot in when you had it. dawned on you for doing that. So before we go, Ricky, how can people find you if they want to know more about you, your dubsado? Your Honey, honey books or honey straight? It's honey book, honey bunnies and your operations and your systems? Where can people find out more about you and get into your world?

Auntee Rik
The best fastest way is on thevault.aunteerik.com. And aunteerik.com. I hang out on Twitter. Mostly. My handle is AuntieRik, although you can find me on Instagram and Facebook in I think Pinterest. As @Aunteerik, but if you want to laugh if you want to learn. I'm on Twitter. I cut up on Twitter the most

Remi Oduyemi
lovely. Yeah, so. Okay, brilliant.

Auntee Rik
That's about it. And my nose has nasty. Allergies are like beating me right?

Remi Oduyemi
If anybody's watching I'm in the UK. And I think my dog has triggered Riki's allergies all the way across the pond. And her nose has not stopped itching this whole entire time. But no thank you so much for this has been so much fun. Thank you for giving your time and your knowledge.

Auntee Rik
I need to laugh.

Remi Oduyemi
You start and I'm gonna share all your links in our blog and this is gonna get in the podcast as well and I'll share it into the MV collaborative group as well. So thank you so much, Rikki.
