From Greek Lessons to Audio Pro: Get to Know Demetra Lambros!

05/16/2024

Meet our resident Audio Pro, Demetra (dee-MEE-trah)!

Demetra is a native of Missoula, Montana and she started an online Greek language program called Gradual Greek. Watching her students' thrill at being able to access course content and replays of live classes via private podcasts, and seeing students (especially neurodivergent and older students) succeed when they otherwise would not have been able to, lead her to a passion to provide accessible in every aspect of her business.

This lead to the founding of Optimize with Audio, in which she helps other business owners optimize and amplify their offers using audio.

Read on to find out more about her life and business!

Hey Demetra! 👋 We'd love to know -- where in the world are you? What do you like about it? Dislike?

Some of the year: in a suburb of Chicago called Naperville
As often as possible: Greece (Athens and the island of Paros)

In Chicago: love the arts and architecture, dislike the fact that I'm on a different continent from my kids

In Greece: Love the produce, the beauty, the food, the sound of the birds, the silence; dislike the fact that when someone invites you for dinner, it's at 9pm at the earliest (don't mind that in the summer but brutal in the winter)

What’s your favorite way to create content? What’s your favorite way to consume it? Why?

Audio. Ease of getting to the content; no need for sitting, computer, or screen.

Describe your dream client.

For my B2C:
1. Language: Someone who's been trying to learn Greek all their life.
2. Food: Someone who's been trying to cook their own food but thinks it's difficult, and then finds the magic of the Greek cuisine.

B2B:
3. Someone who's bursting with ideas and stopped by tech.

Why is that person a dream client? How would you help them?

1. Language: Dream client because I love watching the thrill they get when they realize Greek is learnable and when they start speaking with ease.

I would help them by providing a logical (and uncoventional) roadmap to learning the language, PDFs that are helpful, and explanations that actually make sense, plus live classes that give them an opportunity to get all their questions answered and speak their Greek.

2. Food: Dream client because I love showing people how simple it is to change their kitchen life by changing how and what they cook.

I would help them by providing the needed guidance to run their kitchen as it's done in a traditional Greek household, plus a framework in which they can submit questions and get feedback from me until they reach their goals.

3. Biz folks: Dream client because they are bursting with ideas and they either think they have to do video, or it never occurred to them to use audio, or they love the idea of creating audio content but don't know how to do it.

I would help them by showing them how easy it is to make audio content - both free and paid, and how that will so positively influence their business it will knock their headphones off! 😅

What’s a funny anecdote, related to your area of expertise, that you can’t believe you did (or believed)?

Language: I can't believe I started teaching Greek using all my own materials before I had figured out how to type in Greek. I was SO SLOW and I made many mistakes. But now... I'm a ninja. :)

Food: Even people in Greece are influenced by global trends. I think it's hilarious that I taught quite a few people in Greece, how to make Greek coffee. People mostly have filter coffee, espresso and a few other styles, but not the traditional coffee.

Audio: I can't believe I went all in on the powerhouse level of Hello Audio when I had no clue how I was going to use it. I just knew it was going to be the cornerstone of my business along with MV.

How would you describe MV to an online business owner who’s never heard of it?

"A course platform but So. Much. More. I have my courses with built-in quizzes, memberships, communities, PDFs, 1:1 portals and MUCH MORE in there. And everything is so easy to set up. You do have to host your videos elsewhere - and you have to use a separate platform for email - but with tagging and automations based on tags, you almost feel like it's built in. Want to meet for a quick Zoom so I can show you the back end? And how it integrates with Hello Audio?"

What made you decide to use MV? Why do you keep using MV?

Decided to use MV after experiencing restrictions with previous platform, which made me crazy.

Keep using MV due to:
- Ease of use.
- Ability to copy lessons and modules from one product to another.
- That a product can be anything.
- The owners.
- The fact that the owners listen to their customers.
- The community.
- The support.
- The ability to have quiz questions in the platform.
- Constantly improving platform.
- And now, the community feature.

What frustrates or annoys you about using MV?

That I can't upload multiple PDFs at once into the files section. That I can't show small text boxes for essay questions.
