Hello everybody
Welcome to the memberVault's Fast Track course. This is fast track call number three and my name is Remi, I am the user success Lead here at member vault people are going to be jumping in and joining us as we go through this, which is absolutely fine.
Do me a favor those of you who are already here thank you for being here by the way nice and early and on time. Some of you, can you please go ahead in the chat and let me know your names or where you're watching from in the world. That'd be lovely. So I can get to know some of you because I see new faces here that I've not seen before. Which is awesome. I'm just trying to put my phone on mute. So if you could go ahead and put your names in the chat of where you are in the world. That'd be lovely.
And this is supposed to be quite interactive session. So feel free to use the chat box to ask any questions as I'm going through stuff.
And I'll ask you questions as we go through this as well. So this is gonna be roughly 60 minutes maybe less than depends how quickly I get through this stuff and how many questions there are. You can have the cameras on or off. It's up to you. I am going to be screen sharing so I'm probably not going to be looking at you all very much.
So we've got Eric in Las Vegas. Oh, lovely. And we got Karen in Spain. Hello, welcome. Thank you for being here.
I've not seen you on a call before and I can see. Desi does Yeah, and at the bottom who I think was in Trinidad, so lovely to have you all here and I'm sure some more people will drop in as well. All right, so I'm gonna do screenshare today what we are doing, we do like a 30,000 feet view so we're not digging too deep today.
What I want to really show you is how to kind of window dress your member vault right so where those sit ins are in the back end so that you can add color. You can add images, you can add your logo, those type of things, but it's very high level today. Versus we're not digging in the weeds because we don't have enough time for that. So I'm just gonna show you where things are. And then in the chat I'll be also putting links to our knowledge base because our knowledge base is brilliant. And there are loads of articles with images and videos that will walk you through in the deeper detail that I'm going to go into today. So there'll be lots of links in the chat. And if you're watching this on replay, I'll make sure the links are all on the knowledge base page and on the replay page that you can access those two. Alright, so let's go to a screen share. So we're going to start with looking at it we'll start with brand colors today. So let's get this up. Can you let me know in the chat if you can see the screen okay. And also can you see my mouse moving around because sometimes I had I did a live the other day and zoom was being a bit of a naughty, naughty friend to me. Let me know in the chat if you can see everything okay? Or just nod your heads if you can see everything okay, can you see my little red dot? Yeah, cool. Cool. Cool. Lovely. Thank you. Alright,
so, one of the things once you have a member vault account, it comes with default colors, and you can customize the colors to make it look like your own brand colors or colors that you like. So I'm gonna show you where you do that and set that up. So on the left hand side, so we're I'm just in my demo in the member vault demo account. I nearly said my account. This isn't my account. This is the main demo account. And if you go on the left hand navigation here, this is where everything's set up. If we click on appearance, this is where all the good stuff is when it comes to changing your colors and logos and things like that. So we start at appearance and change our colors. It automatically lands on branding, which is the first the first section.
So we'll start with colors so I'll just scroll down the page a bit. And there's a whole color section here. Let me see if I do preview so you can see the front end and the back end. So our front page of our member vault is made up of black, green and white so you can put custom colors into these boxes. For different areas, whether it's the background, whether it's the body text or the button colors that you want, you can customize all of those by by either putting in this code that you can get from your number. So you can get that off of any graphic design tool like Canva or anything like that. If you have a specific shade of red or a specific shade of blue, you can get your specific hex code it's called and then you can put those in. If you don't have a hex code or you don't have a specific color, you can simply click in these boxes and there is like a color wheels that you can go through and just pick a color that you want. So this is where you would go to to put in the brand colors that you want or the brand colors that you have done with a designer to get some sort of idea of making your your brand look cohesive as well. Alright, so if I do a preview of this, can you see the preview window that I've just opened? Yeah, brilliant. Okay. So you can see there's black for the body text. We've got white for the same black for the background. We've got white body text, and we've got white and green for the buttons. So you can customize that all by going into these areas and playing around with the different sections. And if you
if you change a color up here, so if I change the color, change the button text to red, so I need to remember to put this back because this is the public demo account, or bright pink and then go down it should show us for me it hasn't done that has it not saved that maybe it's not saved that I think saved. We should get a preview. Come on the right one button text, okay. No, that's not refreshing. I don't know why that's not showing but it should be giving you a preview immediately what the color is. I don't know why it isn't. But that should be working. So I need to either try that again. Or report a problem.
But yeah, okay. So this is where you play with the colors that you want for your brand. And if I scroll up the page now you can also add things like your logo. So if you don't know your image size for your logo, you can click on this little bouncing thing here this little question mark and it will tell you in that what the logo size is the best size to go for 480 pixels by 140 pixels. And to upload your your logo which by the way, it would sit here in your back end and on the front end. Your logo would sit in the center of your account at the top.
If you want to change your logo or upload a new logo, you simply click on the Change logo button. And then you get a Dropbox area or you can click on that and that'll open your computer Windows sort of system or your your Windows system to locate your image that you want to upload. So that would be how you would add you would add a logo into your into your account.
And then we have the fav icon so if you've got a fav icon is if you look at the browser tab at the top, each browser has its own logo, and by default your member vault account is going to have the member vault logo in there. But if you want to put your own logo in there or if you want to put your brand colors in there, then you can upload a really tiny image that would sit at the top so you can see here I've got my clickup open and that's the clickup logo on the top of that browser, then the member vote logo in that browser. So this is really good if you want it again for your brand to have it feel cohesive. So that if somebody has a lot of tabs open they can very easily find your member vote count by looking for a fav icon. So you again if you click on the question mark, it will tell you the sizes to create your own fav icon which you can then go off into design and make your own fav icon to fit you know you'd have to get your logo or your colors to fit within that tiny tiny frame. Or there is this really cool site called fab icon.io where you can go there and create your own icon there as well. So that is this information is inside the portal for you as well and again once you've created it you just click on Change your fav icon and drag and drop it here or upload it there as we did with the the main logo there. So I'm just going to stop screen share for a sec and I'm going to drop some links into the chat.
Can you let me know in the chat if you have if you have had a play with put in branding colors into your memorable yet so give me yes or no. And also let me know if you've uploaded the logo. Or if you've uploaded a fav icon yet as well let me know in the chat if you've done that and I'm just going to grab some links for you whilst whilst we are chatting so the first link I'm going to draw up is going to be a knowledge base link for you to help you set up your brand colors Karen says yes she's done everything except the fav icon Amazing. Amazing. Have you created any products or anything yet Karen let me know in the chat. brand colors. So this is a good help doc for you if you want to do blend colors. Eric says I haven't touched it yet. Okay.
And what's what's been holding you back Eric? How come you've not started yet? Let me know. And I know that could be a myriad of reasons why I'm just curious.
gonna share another link with you for image sizes so let's come back. So we'll say image sizes.
This is another handy link to get more information about all the different sizes of images. And then one more is going to be on the logo. And so the other thing I'll say before we move off of images is is that you can also add not just your logo and not just your fav icon but we can also add images for any individual products we are selling so if we're creating a new course or any membership or a one to one offer, we can put images on each of those individual products to make them be more unique. Obviously still sitting in line with our brand colors. And I'll show you very quickly where you can do that as well
in the demo, so we'll call this one logo sizing. And there's another link there.
It says just not ready to put content up yet. Okay. So do you feel Eric like if you Is it is it that you're just not ready to do content in terms of you haven't? You're not ready to launch something yet or is the software the member vault software at all holding you up at all in
doing that? Or is it like a U thing or
is it a member bolt thing unless I guess what I'm asking. Right in a book and of course that's just premature. Okay, cool. That makes total sense. Well, I'm glad you're here. So when you're ready, you'll be good to get amazing.
All right, so I'm gonna go back into screenshare and I wanted to show you just some of the other images that are really important in terms of like window dressing your member vault, or is it about one REM I've got the wrong window open. Apologies. Need to jump back to back to the demo. There we go. Alrighty, so
what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go back on my left hand navigation. I'm going to click on content and we've got some dummy products in here right so we've got like a membership one which is dummy one a waiting list one, a one to one coaching product and we've got a you know, a general get to know you one that's filled with questions about our ideal audience. So if I go into this one, I just need to move all of your zoom heads over there. If I wanted to edit this one, or add any images, I would click on the Edit button. And then I'm gonna go into that specific product. And now I'm at the module level. So you can add images at the module level that's that kind of advertises the public facing image that people would say. So if you scroll down on that product module level you'll see here that there's a product image and you can see here we've uploaded, you know, a nice branded image that will sell this particular product. So to get the size for that again, tap on the bouncing question mark, and it will tell you in here 1280 pixels by 486 pixels is going to be the best size for your main product image. And I think, I think, I think courses and programs that really nice when there is an actual image on it. So rather than just having a text title, so if you can invest time in creating some nice images for your products, I think that helps with I don't know selling them I think and making them a bit more attractive to people. That's just my personal opinion. And then it also just lets you know that the format of to upload these types of images are JPEGs and PNGs. And they're not PDFs that you wouldn't you wouldn't put a PDF here that just that that wouldn't work. So either a JPEG, or a PDF or a jpeg or a png. This is at the module level. And you can do the same at the lesson level if you want to as well. So sometimes people have lots of lessons and so again, it's nice to have an image to kind of differentiate between the different levels lessons if you want to, but you don't have to. And again, you come down and hit on the button where it says image, change image, and then you could drag and drop an image or you click and it will open up a window so you can upload your image there so you can do it at the module. And the lesson level. Sorry, I think I was still on the module lesson. Let's go into the lesson level.
Oh, no, you can't. It's just the modules. Okay,
I'm talking rubbish. It's the module level, not the lesson level that you can add the images. I think I went I got my brain all in a kerfuffle there. So yeah, it's the module level that you can add images and the module level images are slightly smaller 1200 by 200. So again, anytime you want to add an image, the information is always right beside the upload the image box of the right size that you want to be using. If you use an image that's too big, then it may distort how it presents on the screen. And equally if you use an image that's too small, then it's gonna look stretched and it's going to look blurry. So try to stick within the suggested sizes.
Okay, I was just checking the checking the chat box. Alright, cool. So we are going to move on to
like shells gonna give you a link for sizing images as well. Let me stop that. Grab a link for you and then we'll get right back into it again.
Sir, I just have to keep jumping between screens to get this stuff for you. So how to add your logo. And then in a minute we're going to be talking about invisible products and inactive products. what the differences are a why why and when you might want to use them when you're creating in member a lot. So this was logo there we go. Okay so one of the things that people get a little bit confused with is what it means to have an active product to have an inactive product and to have an invisible product. And so if I wanted to give you a good example of this, let's say you're somebody who had 10 things for sale and it's probably not best practice to have all of your things for display. You know, you look at a shop window display. They will choose their best things that they will put out to display to attract people in they don't put everything in the shop in the window. That would be carnage. I wouldn't don't recommend you do that either with your products, right. So let's say you had 10 things for sale and you only wanted three to be visible. Then those three products you would mark as being active right that means they are live people can find the links you can share the links and people can log in that type of stuff. If you wanted to hide some things as in their their stuff that you can still sell but they're not perhaps you know, in your front windows straightaway, then you would make that invisible. So invisible really means hidden. So it's still active. You can still sell it, you can still promote it. People can still log in, but it's in an invisible state. It's in a hidden state, okay.
And then inactive. Means it's closed, like it's completely closed. Even the people who previously had access to it no longer have access to it. Nobody can find it. Nobody can click on it, nobody could buy it. So those are the three core states active, invisible and inactive. Eric says would they need the direct link to get hidden, invisible? Yes. And the good thing with the invisible link is that people who have that link can access it. But if they were to share that link to their friend or whatever, their friends couldn't log in because they don't have the permission to log into it. They could still see it but they wouldn't be able to log in and access it. So invisible. only works with people who you have granted access to. So you know, let's say it was let's say you had a membership, and each month you put your content into a different products or different product each month each month. January have its own product, February, its own product, etc.
And if you only wanted certain people to have access to January and February and some people not to have access to march or let's do this a better way if you want them to have access to February March but you don't want them to have access to January, then you could make January invisible to a certain group of people right by just simply by clicking a button and removing their access. So they could see certain modules but certain products but they wouldn't be able to see any of that you've removed access to so you have control of who has access which parts of your segment of your community or your email list have access to invisible so you can troll that completely. I'm going to show you the back end what that looks like and where you turn a product from invisible to sorry, from active to invisible or from invisible to inactive I've done it again. I've got the wrong window open. Let's go back okay, that's to share again that one, there we go. Okay, so we're going to click on content and so we are back to the four main products that we've got at the moment you can see that all set to active, which means everyone can see these and the things are shareable. So if I go into again into this original one and I scroll down on the first page, you get the status and this is where we control the status. And there is a little reminder here about what status is by clicking on that bouncing question mark, inactive, active and invisible.
That tells you there what it does and you simply would just go across to this drop down, and then you would choose which status you want. So if you want to still sell it and make it invisible, perhaps you're not promoting it at the moment or promote perhaps it's going to be something you bring back up in three months. You can just make it invisible. Or if you just want to get it off of your front page. And actually there are quite a few members of accounts, who have absolutely nothing on their main account. Everything is hidden. And I think that's because they don't want people to just willy nilly buy they just want to sell things in a particular order and give out links at a particular order. So this is how you can control the status of whether something is invisible just trying to stop the dog from barking or inactive. Now it's Okay done. Alright, so I'm going to leave this on active because like I said, this is a live a Live account. So that's where you would do that. I'm going to drop some links again, for you around changing the status. So there are some knowledge base on this articles. So there's one that's called the difference between active inactive and invisible. So if you want to dig a little bit deeper, that's going to be helpful for you. So I'm gonna copy that one into the chat. So this is on call this status. Drop that in. And then the other one I want to share with you is how to use an invisible product to share a surprise offer with your subscribers. And there's a little video on here from Katrina,
who is awesome. So let's say for Eric who's writing a book for example, let's say people have bought your book but you wanted to give them like a gift or a goodie then they could you could give them like this invisible link to this invisible product where they come in. And perhaps there's a surprise PDF in there or there's a surprise audio from you or a surprise video where you talk about something in the book for example. It's a really nice way to kind of surprise and delight customers.
So I'm gonna share that link with you as well. What do you do Karen let me know in the chat, what's your what's your niche or your your genre so pop those in the chat as well for you. Again, if you're watching a replay, I'll make sure I share all of these knowledge base links as well on the replay page. Eric, do you have any questions about branding, Logos images? sizing? Inactive invisible? Any questions while Karen's typing
Karen teaches clients how to build online businesses and invest in property shares and bullion cool. And so did you say Karen like a terrible meme? Did you say you started building emember not yet or not? Or did I not ask you?
I might not just ask you it's all up and running. Cool.
So it was today just like as a refresher for you to be helpful. Or is there anything in particular you wanted? Help with? I'm asking because I've whizzed through my list of things that I wanted to cover today. So if either of you have questions about what we've talked about, in terms of branding and making your
MVP look good, let me know.
Eric, how long have you had a member vault account?
If you don't mind me asking. Are you a demo user or are you like sort of a paying monthly user? Lifetime user
the best type okay. If you do ever need help Eric when you are ready, you know we have chat support, which is superb. So you can always reach out and chat hello@membervault.co You can ask in the collaborative group. If you ever when you're ready, like the support is there, of course yet asking in the Facebook group is just there's an amazing group of people that just will support and help and offer advice for free in there. So it's wonderful when you are ready. And it's nice to know you're a lifetime member as well. Couple of new changes coming online, such as a sales pages and I need to learn more around that. Okay, so watch these videos to check check. I have all the info I need to call. Yeah. So I think I think Aaron is planning some sales page stuff. And these fast track calls really are just for people who've done nothing yet and don't know where to start. But yeah, we should be having some more in depth stuff. Did you see the sales page training for all? I think it's Sara. Last week. Have you seen that? In the collaborative group? She did a whole week of sales page stuff. I don't know if you've seen any of that. But if not, I would recommend Oh look there's a cat tail. There's a cat tail. It's normally me my dog in these videos. He's sleeping at my feet but it's lovely to see little cat tail. But yeah, I'm Merlin how cute so counselors a little bit and not had time to go through them in depth. You know, the feedbacks been really good. She did some sales page reviews for people as well. And I also think watching somebody review somebody else is often where I get like those little gold nuggets as well of information of what I can do. I'll be honest, I have not yet started playing with sales pages. So I'm I that's on my to do list to play with the sales pages more so that I can then give you some more advice on that. I still I still put my sales pages on the I'll just show you in the original. The original member votes but because that's what I've just it's become a habit for me. You know, I created a workshop last week and I just put it straight in my usual place I show you but I do need to and the sales pages now that you have blocks and you can move things you can make your pages look a lot nicer. I just haven't had the time
to play. Why is this? So many windows? I can't having zoom fatigue today. Zoom a fatigue. Right are you I don't know if that's even sharing
okay, I've lost the zoom window completely now it's completely gone. Let's try again. Share I am I feel like I'm having like zoom, zoom by break down. Right so there's the windows why you're not letting me share it. Share let's see what what pops up right rolling is not letting me share seems not being my friend today. Not showing it let's see. Can you see the demo area? No. Yes. Okay. No, I don't know what's happening with Zoom. So, I would go into content. So if I if I choose this top product again, I'll click into edit. So I'm at the high level, the top level where you create your modules but also where your product settings are. You have a description box where you describe what it is that you're selling. We went through images today. And then the product overview text which I like to call the welcome area. That's how I process it in my brain. And then when this is set
to payment, I'll do it very quickly. Another box pops up when it says to payment I can then add the payments in but now I have the promo textbox so this is where I still build my sales pages. Yeah. But we do have the pages feature, which is purposefully to make sales pages easier. I just haven't played with it yet. I'm still here. I'm still old school playing in here but it is my mission to by the end of this year to get very familiar with this because I have some sales pages I want to build and we are going to have some templates coming in soon. designed templates. And I like I said I know Aaron wants to run some workshops on sales page sales pages. So that's where I still do mine.
But yeah, I can't give you much more help Karen on sales pages at the moment. And that's where you have yours to call.
We all the old school is right. Any more questions on branding, image sizes? Understanding active inactive invisible. I've put all the links in the chat. I think that's all I needed to cover today. Logos fab icons. So Karen's got a fab icon to make. Again, giving you a little bit of a homework. Eric is going to finish his book so that he can start using member vault very soon.
It looks like am I am I though?
Eric says I would love to have templates for each of what can be done. As I'd rather modify them build from scratch. Do they exist? Not yet, but they are coming. They are coming. I know things last week or week for Aaron put a post out and quite a few people raise their hand and they're happy to either donate the designs that they've done or create new designs for sales pages. I'm with you. I like I like a good a good template. Now there is a template in there. From memory. There is a template in there but I just haven't played a bit. I'll have a quick look. Now I'm pretty sure we have a sales page template in there. But we'll get more options is what I'm saying and they are coming hopefully, hopefully soon. Let's have a little sneak peek and then I've looked
so if we go to content we're gonna say pages add a page I'm gonna call this sales page see what happens the page
when the page refreshes, did that not save? Let's move this zoom bar out of the way add a page. We're gonna call that sales page add page. Not sure what's happening wondering if this is because it's the demo account.
Or maybe the demo account is locked to stop people like me making pages. I'm going to boot up my account. Let's go in my account
and have a play that up on the screen my back end content pages Sandra just did a quick walkthrough. See if I can add a page call it never had page see it works on my Alright, let me screenshot
and show you. I think it's because it was in the demo. And the demo doesn't let me make any changes and that's probably why the font when I tried to change the font color earlier as well. It's locked so that we can call it
which somebody probably told me and I forgot. So let's do a screen share of my account and we are can you see pages. Yeah, cool.
All right. So I just came down to pages. I just created this random page that I've just called a bunch of numbers and then said add page
and then so scroll down.
We have the templates here. So you do the page first, and then scroll down you'll find the template. So you see there's not a lot here. But let's try this sales page template. We'll say Use Template Okay, and then it puts blocks on the page. For you. So you can drag and drop things around by go all the way up.
So to edit it, you'd click on edit and then type in title here, whatever that is, and then you click Save block
I guess you can add images here by clicking Edit there any sales page text there? But the good thing is you can pick up and move things around. But what will come this is my understanding of what will come is templates that I guess we'll be a bit more filled in like two bit more user friendly templates. That's what I'm envisioning come in so that you can see different ways of doing sales pages. So what we've got at the moment is sort of like you know, version 1.0 Minimum Viable sort of offering to get you started. And I've seen some beautiful sales pages that have been created using this. In fact, I'm probably going to do a little post after in the collab and ask people to share their examples of their designs that they've created using this template. I as a learner I I kind of like to see the examples and like see it visually so this for me, I can work with but I think and this this is probably why I haven't gone in and use this the pages yet is I don't know I just I like to see things more visually. And this feels for me a bit hard to kind of get my head around. So we have got templates coming. And they are from people who've already done their own sales pages. So we'll have real world examples. And then the template that we could use so they're coming but in the meantime, there is something there. It's just kind of have to get your head around using it. And I'm not the expert in the sales pages yet. So that's where we are at. Alright, was that sort of helpful? Brilliant. Thanks, Eric. All right. Well, we'll wrap there. There's no more questions. Thank you for spending some time with me. I'm back next week, Tuesday and then through December. Again, we'll we'll be covering stuff that helps people get set up from the beginning but in due course, we will have some more trainings where we can go a bit more deeper on things like sales pages, and hopefully on some of the new features and how to use them. But at the moment, we're just kind of doing the fast track just to get people actually building and get rocking and rolling. And Eric I can't wait to see what you start to create in member out soon. And Karen, Carry on, carry on carrying on. Thank you for being here. You're very welcome, Eric. And yeah, hopefully see you next week if you can make it
take care Carolyn, take it Eric. Bye
