How to keep your buyers engaged for better results, and retention?

Gamification is absolutely a fun element to add in and can boost engagement/repeat purchases, etc.

One of the best onboarding things we’ve done in the history of MV was our golden hamster award that people could “win” by completing a course within a set amount of time. People LOVED it and still talk about it years later. We're actually going to revamp it, and bring it back for 2024 because it was SO successful. (We stopped because there were elements of how we'd set it up that were time/energy intensive for the team...so streamlining/automating those areas are a big part of the revamp strategy.)

Staying front of mind is a big one for engagement. People are busy, they forget how to log in or even what they purchased. So helpful reminder emails written with their desired outcomes in mind, and any relevant links (be sure to use one click links!! here's how) will have a big impact in people actually DOING the thing. I've gotten so many love notes for my reminder emails with things like "thanks for reminding me...I actually DID it!!". 🎉

If you have a community element to your business, that's another place to drop reminders. If it's a free community, that can be a great way to encourage NEW buyers by posting helpful reminders to the buyers. If it's a community included with the paid offer, you can be even more specific and include links that you might not include for a free community where other people who haven't purchased have access. REMINDER: one click links that auto-log people in ONLY work for emails sent thru your email tool. Don't use them on social media, etc. 

Accessibility of content and options for consuming is also a big one for engagement and retention. The answers there really depend on your offer and audience, but things like offering transcripts and audio for video content, or for audio content having a private podcast feed and also embedded audio players in your MV content so people can choose how they want to listen.

All of those choices have boosted engagement in content I create.

I’ll say the private podcasts I’ve done for various offers, including the Action Labs, have gotten the MOST action taking of any resource I’ve ever created. People have shared that they love that they can listen on the go, and that it's easy to remember where to go since the podcast is in their podcast player (note: not everyone will subscribe to the podcast feed, and some people have shared they prefer to listen in their browser via the embedded podcast player inside the MemberVault product...this is why it's important to give options to consume the content)
