Jacqui Smith [00:00:03]:

Hey, I'm Jacqui Smith, a designer at Whitespace Design Studio, and I absolutely love helping entrepreneurs set their businesses up online and create resources that help them have a bigger impact with their programs, courses, and memberships. My specialty is combining design, tech, and productivity in a way that helps your customers take action easier and get results faster. I love using MemberVault because it's a simple and powerful platform not only for hosting your content for your business but also to connect with your customers and they make it really easy to do that. So today we're going to have some fun with gamification, specifically celebrating your members' progress, and it's a simple strategy to reward and cheer them on. So here at White Space Design studio, we're all about celebration, the big and the small along the way, because that sense of progress really fuels momentum. Now, there are three parts to the celebration strategy. There's the badge, the confetti, and the email. I bundled them and did this in this particular way because I really want my people to know how much of a big deal it is that they did the work and completed that milestone.

Jacqui Smith [00:01:22]:

So a little background in my Confident Planner Club, students create five systems that help them to be more productive. And when they complete each system, there's a badge they collect that's hidden inside a separate lesson at the end of each unit. So as each lesson builds on the previous, I've set this product to progressive so that the lessons unlock in order as they're completed. So when a user completes the final lesson in each unit, the confetti sprays. They unlock a bonus lesson, which contains a badge for them to download, and then they receive an email congratulating them on their progress. It also recaps what they've achieved so far with a hint of what's coming up. So let's dive into the back end and get it set up. So the first step is the batch.

Jacqui Smith [00:02:19]:

The last lesson, each of my units is what I call a take action lesson, and it's really a recap of that unit, and it also encourages them to make sure they've done specific actions before they start the next unit. I then create an additional lesson at the end of that unit for the badge. So I created my badges in Affinityphoto, which is a similar program to Photoshop, only it's a smaller one-time purchase instead of recurring subscription. So just a handy tip if you like to create your own graphics. So I made mine square so it's easily shareable on different social platforms. If they want to celebrate that with their friends. So I simply saved each badge as a PNG file and that's just so there's no other background around the badge. If they want to use it in a special way and so forth, they can do that.

Jacqui Smith [00:03:20]:

I uploaded the badge into the download section of that lesson and I also added an image of it in the lesson so that they know what it looks like. The next step is the confetti. So inside the action section in MemberVault find your product and click on the Add action button. Now choose 'completes lesson' and select the last lesson in that unit which for me is the take action lesson. Then in the next step for the do this choose show a celebration and then in the last section type in your message. I also add a note in here about collecting their badge in the next lesson. And then the final step is to set up the automatic celebration email. So in that same action that you've just created in your product, you'll click on the green, add more text, and then in the do this choose add a tag and then insert the name of your tag.

Jacqui Smith [00:04:36]:

Then we'll go over into your email service and add the name of your tag. Now I use ActiveCampaign so that's what I've based these instructions on. Then I set up the automated email and that gets triggered when that tag that I added in the action section in member bolt is added to that person. And make sure that your automated email is turned on. Yes, a simple tip there from experience and now you're all set to celebrate your members' progress and let them know that you're on the journey with them. So I hope you enjoyed that. And yeah, hope you have fun with that strategy. So if you'd like help set putting out fun ways to engage and support your members, that makes it easier for them to take action and get results.

Jacqui Smith [00:05:31]:
