Should I deliver my mini-course via email or using MemberVault?

Full Episode Transcript

Hey, hey, Erin Kelly here. So I got some really great feedback from a listener on Facebook. This is kind of in line with that whole feedback loop thing is that I had to had to hear it on a social media platform, not, there's no way for people to really fully give that feedback here unless you do the audio message.

But she shared that she's like binge, all the Daily Hive Mind episodes that I've done this season. And she really likes the conversational style. So yay for feedback.

So today, I wanted to talk about basically answer a question that I saw inside of our Collaborative user community on Facebook. And the question was, what are the benefits of using MemberVault for a mini course versus a drip email series? And I thought this was a really great question, because I can't we'll have two answers, right.

So we have a forever free plan that has most of our almost all our features. Except for like, white labeling and stuff. And so prices, the concern, you know, I would always recommend Membervault because you're going to it's a better user experience for your people, because they can access it all in one place. Instead of having to like dig through their email inbox, or if they like, make a folder or something, it's going to be like off to the side, they're not going to remember. And so it gives you, it gives you the opportunity to make your people's life, life's easier.

And then on your end, it gives you the opportunity to have a lot more information about what they're doing. Are they dropping off? You know, halfway through this, this email, you know, or through the this mini course, which you don't get with email. I mean, yes, you can look at open rates, but like, it's just not quite the same. Plus the ability to ask quiz questions inside a MemberVault.

And so you're going to be getting all of these insights, which is fabulous for market research, fabulous for sales, messaging, research, and all that good stuff. But also, like, just in line with what I said at the beginning of this episode. It's a feedback loop. So you don't feel like you've created all this content. And then you're like, I don't know if people are actually using it or if it's helpful, or are they getting stuck? Or is there something else they're kind of curious about, you know, having the answers inside of quiz questions, I find incredibly motivating, like, it fires me up to go in, and look at all the quiz answers that we have inside of our content from member vault. because it brings it brings your people to life, you can like they're real people instead of just email addresses.

So that is like a big reason, then obviously, the whole binge and buy so if you have multiple products inside of your MemberVault, if you're sending people to this free mini course, inside of MemberVault, they're also going to be able to see your other paid offers. So that is obviously a huge perk, they can see it, you can see if you have hot leads, which means that they keep going and looking at a paid product, or any product that they don't have access to. And so you can always reach out to them. You know, it just gives you so much more information and flexibility. And it makes it feel like a more professional experience.

Now. So if cost is a concern, I think MemberVault is always the way to go. Now, if if it's tech overwhelm, if it's, I'm not going to get this done, if I make myself try and put it inside a MemberVault. But I feel comfortable in my email tool at this point. And so like, I feel like I could really throw it together quickly, then my advice would be to do the drip email campaign, just because I am all for getting stuff out there and imperfect action. And so you can always do it within your comfort zone of getting it out through your email tool. And then and then it's out and done and, and and going to your people and they're getting benefits from it, then you can either do it yourself, and move it into MemberVault and turn it into like an evergreen mini course. Or you can pay someone to do it, you could have a VA do it or something.

If you're still just like, I don't want to have to learn another tool, but you have the content already created. And so that's going to make it really so much easier for you, if you're doing it because it takes away the whole, I'm having to learn new new tool and creating content at the same time.

Or if you just like send the email links, here are the five, five days worth of or five minute, you know, lessons or modules worth of content, put it into a mini product inside of MemberVault. It's going to be easier and faster, cheaper for them to do it. So if it's like a tech overwhelm thing that's keeping you from doing it, then my my advice is always going to be the do the thing, do it the way that is going to be easiest and lowest friction for you so that you can get it out there like I am a huge fan of imperfect action.

You know, like I said with this podcast when we were talking about accessibility, like I don't have transcripts yet because I kind of got in my head like where should we put the transcript? Should we put it on a blog post? Should we put it inside our MemberVault like where do we display the transcript?

And it kind of locked up my brain, because we don't have a good answer for podcast transcripts, yet. So we don't have them. And so it's like, okay, you know, talking to my team member who, who is in charge of creating transcripts for all of our trainings and videos and everything and being like, what's the bare minimum of how we can display transcripts for a public podcast that has a lot of episodes. And then what's kind of optimized, which is obviously like a blog post.

So getting that done. And so that's, that's me doing imperfect action, right? Like, started doing the podcast, instead of waiting until I have the transcript ops answer. But then keeping moving forward, even though, in my head, I'm like, we're gonna be adding a blog post feature to MemberVault soon, and soon being like, probably in the next six months. But like, we can't wait for that.

So if you're finding yourself holding off on creating content or putting something out there, whether it's a free or paid thing, because of the tech overwhelm - see where the lowest friction action is for you like, is it doing it in your email? Is it doing it via social media posts? Like how can you get it out there quickly, and see how people are using it and the feedback that you're getting, and then optimize it. Then improve it make it better, make it more accessible, like all of those things.

And so that was that's my answer to that is, if it's budget, I would definitely like and you're familiar with MemberVault, I would totally put your mini course inside of MemberVault instead of an email drip just because it's better for your people, and it's better for you.

But if you are new to MemberVault, or you haven't ever used it before, and it's a tech overwhelm problem, and that's why you're thinking about doing it inside of your email tool. I would use an email tool, get the content out there, then it will make it easier for you to take the next step and optimize your content.
