Hey Shauna! 👋 We'd love to know -- where in the world are you? What do you like about it? Dislike?
I'm in Kansas City, MO so in the midwest. I like that I'm close to everything I need. Walmart, Target, Trader Joes, Whole Foods, and Chipotle. I dislike the weather. I just need it to make up its mind. I can't tell you how many times it will be -5 degrees one day and then the next day it's 80 degrees. Sometimes it's one major extreme to the other.
What’s your favorite way to create content? What’s your favorite way to consume it? Why?
I used to be afraid of video content, but now I love it. It feels easier to explain what I'm trying to say and I can always edit pre-recorded content to make sure it comes out the way I want it to. Plus, it allows people to get a vibe of your personality and it's easier to build rapport with your audience.
Describe your dream client.
My dream client is an industry expert who has already been paid for their expertise in some fashion. They are very aware of their ideal client and have had a successful online business. They are selling an evergreen signature offer or high ticket program on Kajabi or Membervault.
They are fully aware of how marketing works and have probably been through some kind of program that has taught them how to create a highly-converting offer. They already have the assets needed for their funnel such as sales pages, landing pages, and copy for their email sequence. Although they are incredibly successful, they struggle with automation and tech. They are willing to invest in a done-for-you service because they value their time and want their offer to be set up with someone who specializes in the platforms they use.
Why is that person a dream client? How would you help them?
They will understand the importance of saving time and having an expert handle what they may not know how to do on their own. They are at a level in their business where they understand marketing, funnels, content strategy, lead gen, etc.
I would help them by identifying ways to automate some of the manual tasks they're doing. I'd also be saving them time by setting up the tech for their course or program. They don't have time to watch a million tutorials and do endless research. I can expedite the process and set up the tech for their funnel in 2 days.
What’s a funny anecdote, related to your area of expertise, that you can’t believe you did (or believed)?
I can't believe I launched my first online course without knowing anything about marketing. I wasn't even aware of what marketing was. I only learned how to create a course and then share the link so people could sign up. There wasn't a pre-launch plan or anything. Once I finished setting everything up, I simply shared the link and that was it. I did have beta testers though. I did ok with that course too.
Then I put a whole bunch of time and energy into a course I woke up and decided to create that no one asked for. I literally made one sale. It was $27. This was after adding affiliates and several people sharing it with their audience too. I CRIED because I was so embarrassed. I thought for sure because the price was low that everyone would buy it....but NOPE. Major fail, but an excellent lesson learned!
How would you describe MV to an online business owner who’s never heard of it?
I would say that it's a very powerful platform with the ability to customize the customer journey more than most platforms. It's an affordable platform that allows you to deliver an incredible elevated experience for your students. You can use it to host your lead magnets, courses, private portals for clients, host challenges, and so much more.
What made you decide to use MV? Why do you keep using MV?
I originally heard about MV from Vanessa Lau and again as a student in Jereshia Hawk's program Services That Sell. I'm also in Sarah Masci's program and she uses MV for her VIP Day dates.
I've always heard people recommend Membervault as a private client portal so that's primarily how I've always used it. I have a course and masterclass replay hosted on here as well.
I keep using it because I LOVE the webhook feature, actions, and other automations! I also am so grateful that you offer a lifetime access plan. That was my saving grace when I really struggling to make income in the beginning. I can't tell you how important that was for me. I never have to worry about not being able to afford it or having limits on products. I will always host my courses on MV.
What frustrates or annoys you about using MV?
I do wish the design was a little better. It's not bad, but I would love to see an update to the layout and design. I loved how I could customize the admin dashboard back in the day. Would love to see that again! It would be nice to host videos as well versus having to embed them.
