1️⃣ What's your open/click rate for the email? You want it to be especially high for welcome emails vs normal list emails. So think over 50% for the open rate, and over 7% for the click rate. (Below is a screenshot of the data from one of my welcome emails)
2️⃣ Are you getting replies? Keep in mind that only a % of the people who open your email are going to reply. So if your welcome email has only gone out to, let's say, 10 people...you might not have gotten ANY yet.
If it's gone out to 50+ with zero replies, then I'd suggest tweaking your CTA (call to action) to make it even more simple to reply.
WHY DO YOU CARE ABOUT OPENS/CLICKS/REPLIES? - It's a sign that your email is performing well AND it'll boost your deliverability as a whole if people are opening, clicking, saving and/or replying to your emails. And on an individual basis, it'll train their inbox that your emails are important to that person.
Definitely write emails that have opportunities to click AND reply.
3️⃣ Are people engaging with the content in your MV? This is one of the reasons I highly recommend putting ALL of your free/paid content in MV. It's an excellent and easy way to go beyond open/click rates in your emails (which are becoming less and less reliable anyway, which is a whole other email topic).
To see engagement in the product associated with your welcome email, log into your MV, and go to Activity > Engagement and then click to expand the product name.
You can filter the results by date, so filter based on when you added your welcome email (you don't need to filter if it was when you created the product vs optimizing an older product's onboarding experience).
And you'll get a graph like the below. Plus, you'll be able to see your top members engaging with that product during that time period, and what content in the product is getting the most engagement.
*side note: if you are delivering the majority of the content outside of MV, then look to the delivery platform for additional data, i.e. your listens via your private podcast platform)
4️⃣ Are people answering quiz questions in your product? Ohhh, I could write weeks and weeks worth of love notes to our quiz question feature. But in this case it's gold star shining awesomeness comes from an immediate "oh cool, people are engaging with my product".
If you have an intake module with quiz questions (I love doing this, especially with pre-sold products so I can learn more about why people bought/signed up, what they want to solve, etc), definitely make sure you're calling that out in your welcome email template.

5️⃣ Is there a big jump in clicks on your redirect link? OK, so peep up at the above welcome email template. See the PS?
I highly recommend using our link redirect feature to create those share links, both because it makes them look nicer AND because you can see how many clicks that link gets. If YOU know you haven't been sharing it a ton, then that's a great indicator that others are sharing it.
Of course, if you want to use our affiliate feature for your product, that's an even better thing to add in the PS and would give you enhanced tracking to see if people are sharing/getting conversions.
